The Aegon Championships and the wrong sun tan

The scene, Barons Court. The stage, Centre Court at Queens Club. The reason, The Aegon Championships final. The competitors, Murray (GBR) vs. Tsonga (FR).

Yesterday we watched both semi finals at Queens Club with many thousands in the stands and many millions on TV. Today we’re really in for a treat as we take in the final at the Barons Court venue, as long as the rain doesn’t threaten to take hold.

I’m on the tube right now, dressed in my tennis bests… the only problem is I forgot sun cream yesterday so look like a raspberry with hair. I only hope the cameras avoid my beacon of a head and focus on some other poor nutjob who’s sure to be in the crowd somewhere.

The really funny thing is that I’ve got more colour in me now than I did when I got back from Portugal! Isn’t the ritual ‘browning of the flesh’ supposed to happen closer to the Med??? I always seem to do things the wrong way around.

Oh well… pass the strawberries please…

Good lord… here we go again!

So I’ve been using WordPress on and off for many, many years. Many would say… I’m a regular (scary thought). I’ve done it all really, blogging, vlogging and podcasting… but I usually grow a little tired of whatever it is that I’m doing, and move onto something new.

Things seem to be catching up with me though. The world is moving more and more onto the online world. With Apple slowly but surely taking over the world and every electrical appliance in it, we’re all being moved (whether we want to or not) into an “Applesque Culture” driven by the need to have the latest doohickey or watzit that keeps you up to date with everything and everyone around you.

Many people would run and hide at the thought of it, but I think it’s a fantastic time to be seeing the world change for the better. In my work I see people moving into a ‘newer way of working’. Flexibility is absolutely key, and giving people the tools and kit to blur the boundaries between work and homelife will be what makes or breaks businesses and their staff in the near to medium term. Yes… I’m waffling on about work, BUT… it’s relevant. The key to making it last is to make it easy to use and stable, while also given the right education on how to use the said tools and kit.

As we move into this brave new world where everything is connected to everything else, spare a thought for the people who predicted things like this would happen many, many years ago. I’m talking of course about The Terminator and the Whoopi Goldberg smash hit, Jumpin Jack Flash!

Thoughts on a postcard people… or Tweet, Facebook, iMessage, Skype, MSN, Trillian, ICQ, AIM, email, text, SMS or call me on my iPhone, iPad, MacBook, Landline or work mobile phone.

Waiter Rant

A fab new book has been released by a fellow blogger. It’s basically an excerpt from the guys blog, which tells the story of his life as a NYC waiter. There are some fabulous stories in it… so I’d recommend a peak at the blog as well as the book. Check it out by clicking the logo!

Evict your most despised Revel flavour!

We all know Revels, the delectable chocolate treat… with a hint of evil! Everyone has their ‘hated’ revel… and now you have a chance to get rid of it (temporarily) while they have a Limited Edition run with a new mystery flavour!

Check it out… go to www.revelseviction.com

Dante’s Cove… is shit!

It’s not often that I turn a DVD off. I’ll usually give it a chance… especially if it has scenes of gorgeous men, erm… enjoying each other… but Dante’s Cove, which is supposed to have a plot and is supposed to be a ‘soap similar to Melrose Place.

In my best “gran” impression (see Catherine Tate)… “What a piece of shit!”

Within the 10 minutes I put the DVD in, all that seemed to happen was some sort of S&M scene with a really unattractive woman and a rather attractive fellow who managed to get himself cursed.

Then there was the rather corny, butler scene where the ‘master’ gets shagged by the butler… and the rather … erm… flacid encounter between two guys in a beach hut. Oh… the scene in the taxi was quite funny as well, where two guys get it off in the back seat while the shifty looking taxi driver tries to concentrate on the road, while adjusting the rear-view mirror.

Yes… you guess it, Dante’s Cove is soft-porn!

It took me back to when I used to sneak into the family room as a teenager to watch ‘Red Shoe Diaries’… lol !!!

So yeah… avoid Dante’s Cove, with no plot, no point and dreadful acting… you’d be better watching something like ‘Dallas does Dallas’

Speculation About a ‘MacBook Touch’ Builds

Speculation about a possible Apple tablet has started infiltrating the mainstream media with an article on ABCNews summarizing public reaction to this possibility. The buzz about Apple’s next product kicked into high gear after Apple’s Peter Oppenheimer uncharacteristically described a new product during the Q3 2008 financial results conference call.

Rumors about an Apple tablet have been ongoing for years with credible claims that had originally pointed to a 2003 release. Since then, it has been revealed that Apple had been working on a tablet called Safari Pad but this was later morphed into the iPhone.

Shortly after the financial results call, MacDailyNews published an unconfirmed report about a “MacBook Touch” with a laundry list of possible features. While the exact details of the report remain up for debate, an earlier rumor from Jason O’Grady did point to a Mac OS X tablet launching this September or October. O’Grady believes this sort of iTablet is exactly what Oppenheimer was referring to.

This, to me, means that Apple is going to leverage the more than 100 patents (like MultiTouch) that they’ve filed for iPhone in a larger screen device that borrows heavily from iPhone. Think of a larger, media playing, eBook reading iTablet with 3G, GPS, and Bluetooth. Now think of it in 6, 8 and 10-inch screen sizes. This is when things get interesting.

Indeed, Apple’s extensive multitouch patent library has depicted multitouch control panels intended for use in Mac OS X and not just the iPhone OS.

Many believe that if Apple were to introduce a Tablet-based computer, they would have addressed the issues that have prevented mass adoption of existing Tablet PCs. Based on the “Safari Pad” codename of their previous tablet project, it seems obvious that Apple once considered web browsing to be the killer app of such a device.

Weird man seen on the Tube…!

I saw this guy on The Tube recently and had to do my usual ‘sneaky picture’ similar to the methods used to capture the earlier images of Margaret from The Apprentice.

It’s not a brilliant picture… but his shirt says, “Please turn me over so I don’t choke on my own vomit”.

Nice…!
