Do you believe in jesus?

As B was up in Newcastle this morning with work, i thought I’d be energetic and go fetch some things from SuperDrug… won’t bore you with the details, but will share a strange experience I had on the way there.

I’ve never been to this particular store before, mainly because there are a lot of very scary people around there! I’m not one for putting myself in frightening situations… I think this comes from my South Africa days.
On my way there, I noticed a guy standing at the traffic lights handing leaflets out to people. Thinking it would be the usual BOGOF offer for a drink in a local I started getting all my usual excuses into the front of the mind to throw out when he thrust his arm out at me.

Then he surprised me! Totally shocked me with what he asked next…
“Do you believe in jesus?”

I honestly didn’t know what to say, so just started walking past him. I must have been looking particularly gay today because he started walking behind me… telling me that I could be rescued from sin and gain access to the kingdom of heaven.

In the past I would have laughed it off… carried on walking and notched it up to experience. Today though, I started thinking to myself… “He hasn’t read The Da Vinci Code”.
Do you think this means that from now on I’ll gauge my responses to religious questions on a pre-DVC / post-DVC system… or is it just me being an ass?

It’s an odd one. Nevertheless… I did my usual and smiled at him before walking on to my destination.
How sad that there are still people out there who feel that they have the right to judge people on their appearances, when the book that they gain their beliefs from tells them explicitly not to judge others!
